Flying Horse Services started as a purely horse shipping company and quickly developed into a shipping company for animals. Today we specialize in exporting horses, breeding livestock and exotic animals from the United States to Asia-Pacific.
Founder
Peter Calnan
Peter Calnan founded Flying Horse Services and brings over forty years of experience in the transportation of horses and livestock worldwide. Shipments have consisted of horses, cattle, sheep, goats and zebras, moved domestically across the United States and internationally.
The company works with experienced professional horsemen and stockmen attendants, maintains an extensive network of agents around the world, and collaborates with prominent breeders and trainers as well as leading veterinarians. It also assists clients with horse purchasing at major Thoroughbred sales.
That combination — decades of relationships plus the operational detail of running the animals yourself — is what a boutique operator has that a large freight business does not.

We are based in Arcadia, California, and we depart from whichever US gateway suits the animals and the airline schedule.

And other US airports where the origin farm or the airline schedule calls for it. Animals are held at USDA-approved pre-export isolation facilities we work with, chosen to suit the species and the departure airport.
How we work
What you are actually buying.
One company, one chain of custody
We collect the animals, hold them in isolation, do the vet testing and make sure it follows the correct USDA protocol, build the crating ourselves, load the aircraft, fly a groom with them and hand them over at the other end. There is no point in the journey where your animal becomes somebody else's problem.
People who have done it before
Experienced professional horsemen and stockmen attendants travel with the animals. Airline handling crews are briefed before every loading, because a crew that has never moved an air stable will otherwise learn on your horse.
Honest feasibility
We will tell you when a protocol is closed, when a market is thinner than it looks, and when the timeline you want is not achievable. A quote against a closed lane helps nobody.
